HOMEMADE APPLE CIDER WITH MULLING SPICES
It is apple picking season and you are wondering what are you going to do with all the apples you picked with the children. One idea comes in mind, make your own Apple Cider.
It is not that hard to make your own Apple cider at home with these simple steps you will not only enjoy making an amazing drink but you are going to make your house smells with a wonderful aroma.
THE MULLING SPICES:
1 tablespoon whole all spices
1 Cinnamon sticks
1/2 Orange peel
1 whole lemon peel
1/2 tablespoon Cardamom
2 pieces of Crystallized ginger
5 Cloves
1 Anise star
1/2 tablespoon whole black pepper
1 Bay leaf
INGREDIENTS:
1 pound Seeded Apple cut to quarters
Mulling spices (recipe above)
Water
Sugar (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut the apples to quarters.
In large stockpot, add the apples, cover with water, add the mulling spices (recipe above) and the sugar (according to taste) be aware that some type of apples are sweet enough.
In high heat bring to a boil for about 1/2 hour then reduce heat and simmer for 2 and 1/2 hour.
Strain the mixture through Chinois a conical sieve and discard solid. Let cool.
Enjoy the drink warm with Anise star and cinnamon stick.
