Elegant and easy to prepare, this poached pears recipe makes a tasty dessert that will impress your family and friends.
INGREDIENTS:
2 firm Bosc pears, cored, peeled and cut in halves
4 cup white wine
Juice of ½ Orange
½ cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick
2 cardamom pods
3 cloves
1 anise star
2 orange peels
Pistachio or shaved almonds for garnish (optional)
STEPS:
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine the white wine; sugar, orange peel, orange juice, and all the spices then bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar. Add the pears and simmer until tender when pierced with a knife. Remove the pears from the liquid and let cool.
Keep simmering the liquid until getting the desired reduction and consistency.
Serve the pears with the reduction liquid and top with crushed pistachios.
